My Minimalist Journey – Part 3

May 11, 2023

I’ve been decluttering every week – the process has tapered off as I near my due date, but I have so much more I want to go through and get rid of. I’m eager to clear my house even more. My kitchen counters have been mostly clear for 3 weeks. My coffee table is now completely clear of clutter, and my dresser (which was once loaded with junk) is now home only to a TV and Switch Dock (both of which are temporary).

I wanted to highlight some of the revelations that started me on this journey:

  • I do not need to keep stuff if it is not currently adding value to my life
  • I should not keep things that create a silent to-do list
  • I do not have to invest any more time or effort into getting rid of something (trying to sell it, get my money back, etc.)

The other revelation that came AFTER the initial declutter was: I am not actually a terrible housekeeper. I just couldn’t manage the amount of stuff that was in my house at the time. Turns out, I am perfectly capable of keeping my home clean; I just didn’t realize how much the clutter was paralyzing me.

An avid reader and aspiring author, I am hoping to share a little magic in the mundane aspects of life. As a mom of two and married to my best friend, God has been very good to me. I want to share a little light in my corner of the world.
