Watching the Storm

Have you ever stood at the window watching a thunderstorm rage outside? The wind howls around the eaves of the house and you fret over the hail hitting your car in the driveway while the rain pelts the ground and rips the leaves off the trees. I love to watch storms from the window. I turn out the lights inside, sit at the windowsill, and just watch the storm thrash around me. The next time you are home in a storm, take a moment and realize how still it is inside the house. Or maybe you ran in from the rain, dripping wet. There is a feeling of relief that washes over you as you escape the weather’s abuse. As long as you stay inside the house, you are protected. You remain at peace in the middle of the storm. I love that feeling. Isn’t it just like what God does for us? As long as we remain in Him, we are at peace. We have watched our world go crazy in recent events. Acts of violence, protests, cries of injustice, wickedness, fear, and outrage all clamor around us. I’m grateful that I have a shelter in the midst of this storm.

Peace. Peace. Wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above.
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
in fathomless billows of love.

An avid reader and aspiring author, I am hoping to share a little magic in the mundane aspects of life. As a mom of two and married to my best friend, God has been very good to me. I want to share a little light in my corner of the world.
