What’s Your Favorite Season? (Seasons Under Heaven)

Ecclesiastes has been my favorite book of the Bible for many years. I find it poetic, encouraging, humorous, and sobering. I have found it speaks to my life so eloquently, and I am excited to share some of my heart with you.

Seasons Under Heaven

Ecclesiastes 3:1

To everything there is a season,

A time for every purpose under heaven:

“What is your favorite season?”

For me that is a very complicated question! I don’t like to be cold so I usually say summer or fall, but the truth is my favorite time of year is the time between seasons. There is a transition period that, for me, is the most thrilling part of every season! I love the rising anticipation of change!

As hot, sweltering days start to fade into cool, breezy mornings and chilly evenings, I feel my energy rising with the anticipation of fall.

I love when autumn’s jackets and sweaters turn into wool coats and snow boots.

Those first warm tendrils of spring excite me in anticipation of garden plans, sitting outside again, and opening the windows.

After the flowers are opened, days start to stretch like afternoon shadows, and we look forward to running through the sprinkler, lounging by the pool or hiding indoors from the thunderstorms.

Oh, these are my favorite times of year!!! Those times when we are not quite there yet, but we know change is coming!

Those are my favorite parts of life, too. I see change coming, and my energy rises with anticipation. The difference is, I don’t always know what tomorrow holds. But I know Who holds it, and I am thrilled to start a new season with all its promise of growth, change, and renewal! God is about to do something amazing… don’t dread it! Change is coming!

An avid reader and aspiring author, I am hoping to share a little magic in the mundane aspects of life. As a mom of two and married to my best friend, God has been very good to me. I want to share a little light in my corner of the world.
